The Tragedy of A Rescuer

In the midst of chaos, I stand alone,
Caught in a crossfire, a battle unknown.
For being a rescuer, it comes at a cost,
But to ease your burdens, I’ll never count the cost.

A chorus of questions, they sing in the air,
As if I’m the culprit, the one to bear.
The weight of the mess that’s not of my hand,
Yet I’m the one questioned, where I stand.

A pawn in a game that I did not play,
I find myself lost, night and day.
Caught in a brawl that I never did start,
Looking for peace & a kind heart.

I’m everyone’s refuge, a harbor for pain,
Yet my own haven, I struggle to gain.
In the storm of voices, I wish to break free,
From the tangle of battles, where I shouldn’t be.

For I may have stumbled, my heart may be bruised,
But I won’t be broken, nor easily used.
With patience and poise, I’ll address each plea,
Clearing the fog of uncertainty.
